What is Digital Citizenship ?

Kellye Bowen, Anna Foreman, Sonya Galloway, Joseph Farmer
What is a citizen? Webster's dictionary defines citizenship as follows, “the quality of an individual’s response to membership in a community”. There are many components that determine whether a person’s citizenship is positive or negative.
When we add the term “digital” it simply adds that the “quality of an individual’s response to membership in a community” is relative to the digital community. More simply put, an individual must respect and respond appropriately to all members of the digital community. This requires the individual to monitor and self correct their own behaviors in response to others within the digital community. They way one handles any and all situations within this community results in the digital experience being positive or negative for all involved.
